When it comes to supporting our deserving veterans, few companies are as exemplary as TaylorMade Golf and the American Lake Veterans’ Golf Course. TaylorMade offers exceptional discounts for veterans and their families, and American Lake is the only golf course in the United States that is specifically designed for veterans. The AtTheTee.com team is committed to supporting and recognizing our veterans, which was the driving force behind publishing this blog post on golf and the troops.

TaylorMade®

According to TaylorMade’s website, they “recognize the important role the military, veterans, and their families play in our nation. As one of the nation’s largest private employers of veterans and those on active duty, we value military experience. To remember and honor these veterans in a special way, we teamed up with a nonprofit organization called Operation Game On, which is a program for returning soldiers who are severely physically or mentally injured and going through rehabilitation at Naval Medical Center San Diego. We believe our service [men] and women have one of the most difficult and important jobs in the world. In an ongoing effort to recognize the service and sacrifice of our military personnel and their families, we support organizations nationwide that are working hard to create opportunities and provide services for the military community.”

TaylorMade also offers a 25% “military discount off [their] entire purchase for active duty, retirees, veterans, military spouses, [and] military family members. You will see your discount reflected while shopping on any of [their] four sites (www.taylormadegolf.com, www.adidasgolf.com, www.ashworthgolf.com, [and] www.adamsgolf.com) after verifying your eligibility with ID.me.”

Operation Game On

Operation Game On is also dedicated to helping veterans, and does so by giving “returning combat-injured troops suffering from physical and mental disabilities a very special custom intro-to-golf package.” This bundle includes “golf lessons by certified PGA Golf Instructors,” a “professional fitting session with PGA qualified staff at TaylorMade’s ‘The Kingdom,’” “golf equipment, including a brand new full set of TaylorMade clubs and golf bag,” “golf apparel, including Adidas golf shoes and headwear,” and “access to San Diego country courses at special discounted rates.”

Operation Game On’s mission is to expose veterans to golf, which “is good for the mind and the body. It allows them to compete, laugh, relax, focus, and challenge their muscles outside of regular PT. It gives them hope of a clearer future after their tragic injuries and experiences of war.” Operation Game On’s “goal is to reach out to our troops and their families to show them the honor they deserve through an introduction to the game of golf, [which] helps build self esteem and confidence [while teaching] determination.” There is also a Wives of Warriors (WOW) program available, which seeks to introduce wives of combat-injured troops to the joys of golf.

TaylorMade’s “The Kingdom” at Reynolds Plantation is a “state-of-the-art clubfitting facility [that offers a] complete and comprehensive one-on-one with a TaylorMade Master Clubfitter. Every TaylorMade Master Clubfitter has spent a myriad of hours honing their craft to achieve ‘Master’ status by fitting equipment for [a] global staff of TaylorMade and Adams Golf Tour professionals, PGA professionals, NCAA Division 1 golf team players and top-level amateurs. TaylorMade Master Clubfitters are trained to leave no stone unturned during the process of determining the precise equipment specifications that give you maximum distance and accuracy.”

The AtTheTee.com team urges you to donate to Operation Game On, which “is actively seeking individual and corporate sponsors to join [them] as [they] help combat-injured troops and their families.” Individual sponsors can donate any amount of money online or play in a charity golf tournament, and corporate sponsors can donate their company’s time or services and help raise money for Operation Game On at their place of business. “At the end of the day, knowing our heroes and their families benefited greatly is a very rewarding feeling. We are giving them a game that will get them out there [so they can enjoy] a somewhat normal life again. With your help, it’s GAME ON!”
